The Lismore Ceilidh Band is delighted to get repeat bookings as that helps confirm to us that we're doing something right!

We have played at the Edinburgh fiddle festival, the Murrayfield Stadium supporters' tent (before the Rugby International) twice and the Falkirk Town Christmas Ceilidh twice. Events we play at annually include the Amnesty International Edinburgh Ceilidh, and one of East Lothian's biggest ceilidhs - the Haddington Town Twinning Association.

A selection of the feedback we've received is shown below:

Haddington Town Twinning Association
Thank you and your fellow band members for a great night on 4th Feb [2006]. As usual the evening was a great success and we look forward to you playing for us again next year.

Alex Primrose, Fintry Accordion and Fiddle Association
[The November 2005] guest spot was filled by The Lismore Ceilidh Band making its first ever appearance at an accordion club. Their line-up was as follows, with Stewart Wilson on lead accordion, Alison Hiley on fiddle and recorders, Morag Black on second accordion, Ian Kidd on drums and Malcolm Gilles on second fiddle and mandolin. Their varied and tasteful arrangements of both traditional tunes and new compositions was exciting and most enjoyable - a ceilidh band but with a difference. We feel sure that Fintry will be the start of many club appearances of this band.

TravelWise (Post-conference Ceilidh)
"Thank you for an excellent ceilidh on Thursday night at the Balmoral (Edinburgh). This was the first time we had staged the National TravelWise conference in Scotland and the ceilidh helped to make it a great success. It was clear to see from the numbers on the floor that the music was being enjoyed - we had excellent feedback the next day and I'm sure the evening will be remembered for some time."

MikesCommunity.com (Ceilidh dancers' website)
"Their playing was sharp and up-tempo, testing the dancers' fitness to the limit. Particular mention should go to Alison who excelled on the recorder during the waltzes. In his usual way, Malc prowled the floor with his radio-mike, encouraging and cajoling the dancers. There were not all that many experienced dancers at the ceilidh, but Malc did a great job to keep everyone dancing.

One of the main reasons I like this band, is their repertoire of dances. The only dance that was repeated was the Dashing White Sergeant. Other bands take note!"

Starting Well
"Following our Starting Well ceilidh on Friday night I would like to sincerely thank the Lismore Ceilidh Band for making the night such a success. My worst nightmare did not come true as the dance floor was full from the outset and everyone who came along thoroughly enjoyed themselves."

Scottish Traditions of Dance
"Many of those attending the workshops went on to enjoy the Ceilidh in the evening with caller Annabel Oates and the Lismore Ceilidh Band. Half of Edinburgh also appeared to be in the Southside Community Centre that night, which helped to make it a very enjoyable and joyful event for all concerned."

Law Primary PTA
"I would like to thank you on behalf of Law Primary School PTA for performing at the Ceilidh last week. Many people commented on the wonderful atmosphere there was and that they had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Your band played a large part in this with your music and dances being enjoyed by adults and children alike."

"Many thanks to all of the band who did such a fantastic job of entertaining everyone at our wedding in Paxton in October. It was a fantastic weekend and loads of people commented on your performance. We will bear you in mind if we ever need a band again."

Edinburgh Unviersity (Post-conference Ceilidh)
"Everybody I have spoken to had a really great evening and they thought you were all great!"

"MANY THANKS for your wonderful playing on Saturday night - all those "Southerners", Americans etc., could not believe how wondeful the playing and dancing was - a real experience for them."

VL

"We were lucky enough to have you play at our wedding in the (Glasgow) Trades Hall. I don't think I could have hoped for a better show than the one you all put on. To have directed our French guests with the gusto that you did, was work enough. The music was fantastic. Thank you for helping make the happiest day of our lives all the more memorable"

N&E

"This is just to let you know how very grateful I am to you and the other members of the Lismore Ceilidh Band for helping to make the wedding such a success on Saturday night. You coped with heat and a too-small dance floor superbly. I had a wonderful time - as you may have noticed!! I have a feeling we should have thanked you more publicly at the end, but not being real Scots we aren't up on the protocol of these events. But even if we didn't say so in the appropriate way at the time, we all thought you were terrific."

J&D

"Thank you so much for making the evening go with a swing. I don't think you need me to tell me how much everyone enjoyed your music."

JR

"Everyone has been very complimentary about the band."

M&J

"Thank you for making our night such a good party. Everybody has commented on how good the music and dancing was. We only hope we didn't let you down withour technique!"
